Broadcastle Bank Limited became a part of Siemens Financial Services UK operations in 2005, following the acquisition of Broadcastle plc, a listed and publically quoted banking and financial services group by Siemens AG. The acquisition complemented Siemens Financial Services’ existing activities and has enabled both Siemens AG and Broadcastle to create a larger, combined business supported by an ambitious worldwide parent, enhancing performance within a competitive market. Since its acquisition, the asset-backed lending and financing activities of the specialist, niche subsidiaries within the Broadcastle group have been integrated into Siemens Financial Services core business, strengthening the company’s position as a leading provider of innovative finance solutions to UK businesses and public sector organisations.
Broadcastle Bank provides a range of commercial funding and asset backed financing facilities, with a focus on funding to the public sector market, as well as offering whole-sale deposit facilities. Broadcastle Bank also provides banking and treasury services to the wider Siemens group and is strategically aligned to Siemens core markets. The roots of Broadcastle Bank go back to 1954 when the business was first incorporated as Horton Securities Limited and as a licensed deposit taker, subsequently changing to Horton Bank Limited in 1998. The business adopted the Broadcastle name in 2004, reflecting the name of its parent since 1982, with Broadcastle plc having a full listing since 1994. In the period up to the acquisition by Siemens in 2005, Broadcastle had developed as a banking and financial services group operating through subsidiaries in a number of niche markets.
